Film Sense Blog

Dedicated to my love of the Arts, the creative process and the Motion Pictures we all watch with eager minds and open hearts. My love of film began at an early age as it does for most people. I recall watching movies with my Dad in our living room like Aliens and Predator and Field of Dreams. I remember going with my Mom to see Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundgren as He-Man. Another poignant time and film was at a birthday party sleep-over that my 15 year old sister was having where we watched The Blob, the 1988 version with Kevin Dillon that is.

Movies always remind us of those special moments and memories in our lives. We all probably watch somewhere around 20,000 movies in our lifetimes. Maybe not 20,000 different movies, but 20,000 occassions where we are sitting on the couch at home, going out to the movie theatre, laying in bed watching the movie of the week or renting one from NetFlix or BlockBuster.

Movies inspire us to do more and do better. They show us the perspective of another person and allow us to put ourselves in that person's shoes for a couple hours. Films serve as projected mirrors that we live through vicariously with our emotions and senses. We experience what the characters in the films endure through our minds and through our abilities to sympathize and empathize with people. Film is as much education as School, at least in social and emotional development, though we ought not rely on cinema to teach us how to be(unless you're watching all Steven Spielberg films :)

So as it goes, I will be writing about some of my favorite films in hopes of sharing a little of myself and even recommending a watch or purchase of several titles that I feel are worthy of your time. I think my next post will be about my favorite film. Yeah that sounds good
